Do you love playing video games? Ever dream about making your own video game worlds for you and others to enjoy?! What is it like to turn our video game dreams into a coded reality? These are the fun and challenging questions we will aim to answer in this week filled with coding challenges for coders of any experience level using programming adventures like Scratch and Tynker, along with Python for more seasoned coders, to create and share our ideas while learning the basics of coding. Students will create their own Scratch and Tynker accounts which will be shared in a online studio as well as end of session Family Style Potluck and Game Play. Kids will love being able to code while also being able to take breaks to do free art and play outside or jump on an outdoor trampoline. Tracy will help students focus on a sense of connection and community where kids have the tools not only to complete their projects but also communicate their ideas to peers in a collaborative way. Coder Ryan Ramsey will also be co-teaching this class with Tracy.
Class will be held in Lafayette, CA. Geared for ages 7-15
Cost for Session #4 is $320 or $50 per individual class. Enrollment OPEN.

~ NEW OFFERING:  Spring Break 2017~

CALLING ALL MOVIE MAKERS & NATURE LOVERS:

SPRING BREAK MOVIE MAKING!!!

FILM THEME:

"BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE"

April 3rd-7th 2017 from 10am-4pm
Location - Lafayette, CA
Ages 7-97

Calling all movie makers!  Have you ever wanted to make and/or be in a movie?  Do you care about our environment and want to make a difference in the world?  YOU have a VOICE!

Come and join us for this new and exciting Spring Break Edition of our Movie Making intensive! We will dream up and create from start to finish our own movies themed around Earth Day with special focus on the sustainability and environmental issues specific to Lafayette!  Students will focus not only on Lafayette's surrounding nature at the Reservoir and creeks, but also learn first hand about sustainability practices used at our local community garden.  This will be an informative and empowering week where students will have fun learning about making a film while also investigating larger environmental issues in creative actionable ways using their own young voices to set the stage for the future of our Earth and nearby communities.

Students will take on many roles throughout the week long process from creating a story, building a character, putting together costumes/props/set, learning ensemble building games that are fun and promote team building, and shooting a one of a kind original film like no other!  This is the "reel" deal!  This unique Spring Break Earth Day themed week will also take us on several walking field trips to the the Lafayette Reservoir, Lafayette Creeks, and Lafayette Community Gardens where we will explore on location filming.

Movie Makers will become comfortable throughout the week with one another by having a variety of free art experiences, open play, and focused drama activities that will support the filming process.  This will be a unique experience for children of a variety of ages to learn from and assist one another in developing their own story and larger message for Lafayette's Earth Day celebration where our finished film will be viewed!

Lafayette's Earth Day Event AND Film Screening:  April 23rd 2017
