APRIL 2018

Come join Tracy for Pop-Up Knit Days!

We will be setting the scene for some fantastic Springtime knitted and crocheted creations.

Beginners are welcome!

Let’s brew some yummy tea in fancy tea cups, and get cozy with our needles and yarn.  A variety of yarn and needles will be available based on kids interest!  We will also provide knitting castles for beginners who aren’t ready for needles just yet.

Let’s enjoy our one of a kind projects as well as making time to jump in the trampoline/play outside, enjoy playing the piano with friends after lunch, or challenge a friend to a game of Chess or Connect 4!  Tracy will have a few maker stations where kids can experiment with various types of other fiber arts:  sewing, embroidery, and a castle and needle making station.  Sign up for one or multiple days.

The longer you knit, the more of a project you can make, but big or small we will have a good time making and improving our skills!

Benefits of knitting:

NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE
Once you get beyond the initial learning curve, knitting and crocheting can lower heart rate and blood pressure and reduce harmful blood levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
But unlike meditation, craft activities result in tangible and often useful products that can enhance self-esteem.
BENEFITS of Knitting for Kids:
  • Works both sides of the brain - logic and creativity
  • Improves fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
  • Encourage focus and creativity
  • Helps teach kids (and adults) patience and how to work through challenges
  • Is a meditative action, causing knitters experience the same "flow" as those who practice yoga
  • Boosts problem-solving skills
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Gives a sense of pride and achievement
