FEBRUARY 2013 CLASSES!

TIE DYE A PILLOWCASE & MELTED CRAYON ART!
Friday, February 15th 2013, 10am-1pm
Come create a unique tie dyed pillow case!  Explore how liquid color travels as you can make your own patterns using rubber bands along with experimenting how to twist, roll, or fold your fabric.  Also on hand will be colorful playdough and some fun melted crayon art as we make pictures on a heat board, literally melting our crayons as we draw!  Afterwards we will delight in some drama games, storytelling, and create our own colorful adventure to act out!  As always we will end our day with an all natural fruit popsicle.

Cost is $40 and includes all art supplies/materials and take home tie dyed pillowcase and crayon art!

NEW! Famous Artist Series:  JEAN MICHEL BASQUIAT
**SATURDAY**, February 16th 2013, 10am-1pm
Let's celebrate Black History Month with a special tribute to one of the most influential American painters of our Century.  We will explore graffiti art and the dichotomies found throughout Jean-Michel Basquiat paintings, giving thought to issues like wealth vs. poverty, integration vs. segregation, and inner vs. outer experience.  We will also create our own Neo-Expressionist artwork portraying recognizable objects in an abstract manner focusing on our emotions and using vivid colors.  Basquiat created works of art you couldn't ignore, evoking deep feelings in the viewer...we will ask ourselves what deep feelings we want to portray and express.  Afterwards we will play theatre games that focus on exploring our own emotions and then create a Basquiat inspired story based on our interpretations of his art.  Bring a snack and enjoy a popsicle on us at the end of class!

Cost is $40 an includes all art supplies/materials and Basquiat inspired artwork.

Famous Artist Series: MORE JACKSON POLLOCK!

**WEDNESDAY**, February 20th 2013, 2:30-4:30pm
After rave reviews from our first artist series with Jackson Pollock, we are bringing back the fun of throwing paint onto the canvas!  You haven't lived until you have splattered paint, flicking your full of paint brush with gusto onto a blank canvas...it is very cathartic and fun!  We will be making unique Pollock inspired splatter artwork and then play some improvisation theatre games!  Bring a snack and enjoy a popsicle on us at the end of class!

Cost is $30 and includes all art supplies/materials and take home Pollock inspired painting.

ADVENTURE STORY
Friday, February 22nd 2013, 10am-1pm
We will be traveling to far off distant lands filled with everything from Dragons to magical spiders, fairies, and MORE!  Whatever you can imagine, you can create!  We will be exploring our inner storyteller selves as we create a magical "choose your own adventure" story pie wheel where students can change the direction of their story by flicking their magical arrow...wherever it lands, a new chapter begins!  When children can be the creators of their own storytelling, they will begin to create a deep investment into future literacy skills and take delight in their own unique ideas.  Afterwards we will work together to knit our own story to act out with costumes!  Bring a snack and enjoy a popsicle on us at the end of class!

Cost is $40 and includes all art supplies/materials and take home adventure story.

~Classes held in Lafayette, CA and geared for kids 4 and up~
